Neighborhood
The Gulch
Best For: Hotels, Restaurants
Twenty years ago, the neighborhood now known as The Gulch, was just a train yard full of garages, warehouses and gravel parking lots. The only reason to ever come here was to listen to some bluegrass at the iconic Station Inn, opened since 1974 or to perhaps to grab a meat and three at Arnold’s, a soul food institution, opened since 1982. In the past twenty years no area of Nashville has experienced as much growth as here.
Now in The Gulch, the many industrial warehouses have been transformed into chic apartments, condos, shops and restaurants and what was once a gravel parking lot is now the base of a tall and trendy hotel. Youthful, hip and less than a mile south of Lower Broadway downtown, The Gulch is one of Music City’s premier neighborhoods.
