Home to Centennial Park, the Parthenon, and Vanderbilt University, West End is a leafy, well-established neighborhood running from downtown toward Belle Meade.
The West End neighborhood of Nashville stretches from downtown all the way to Belle Meade west of Nashville. It's highlighted by Centennial Park, Nashville’s premier urban park, as well as Vanderbilt Universities main Nashville campus. The 132-acre Centennial Park features the Parthenon, a full-scale replica of the original built in Athens Greece, multiple gardens, sidewalk trails and an art history museum. On the northern border of West End is Elliston Place, another charming neighborhood that features a number of Nashville's most beloved places including EXIT/IN a long-standing music venue and Elliston Place Soda Shop open since 1939.

What I define as West End is really several different housing markets strung along one corridor. Close to downtown, it's modern condos and apartment towers with substantial new development continuing to reshape the neighborhoods eastern side. Push further west and you reach Vanderbilt, Elliston Place and Centennial Park where the side streets turn into established pockets of condos and apartments each with their own unique character. Continue west past Centennial Park and the housing changes again. As you cross I-440 toward Belle Meade, you'll find some beautiful older condominium developments alongside side streets containing some of Nashville's most desirable homes. The theme of West End remains the same wherever you are. An address directly on the avenue means traffic and activity while one a block or two away can be totally serene.
The steadiest force on West End is institutional. Vanderbilt University and its surrounding medical centers anchor the middle of the corridor creating a consistent population of students, faculty, medical professionals and other employees looking to live nearby. For buyers, that makes the exact location especially important. Not just where you are along West End, but how far are you from the avenue itself, Vanderbilt, the hospitals and the surrounding residential neighborhoods.
